Case Study – Shop Services
In a Florida-based plant, during a routine spring outage, the station head identified a need for the refurbishment of 20 sets of valve trim. Typically, the protocol involved sending the trim back to the OEM for refurbishment in preparation for the upcoming fall. However, following an exceptionally severe winter that caused significant wear on the valve trim, the OEM communicated that purchasing new trim would incur a cost exceeding $500,000.00.
ETON Controls seized the opportunity when the facility received the items back from the OEM’s repair center. ETON Controls conducted a thorough inspection on each item and provided a comprehensive Valve Report explaining the causes of damage. A detailed repair report for each item was submitted to the station for approval.
Upon approval from the station, ETON Controls initiated the refurbishment process. After receiving the refurbished items, the station’s engineering team inspected each one, giving their approval for installation during the upcoming fall outage.
Following the successful installation of all items, several months later, ETON Controls received positive feedback from the plant manager and engineering supervisor. They reported that all refurbished items were still in optimal working condition. Consequently, the plant expressed its intention to continue utilizing ETON Controls for all valve services, no longer relying on the OEM for such critical components.
